Youth boxing.

Plan:
– should pro boxing be allowed for young children.
– school
– fully developed
– attitude
– putting people in danger

Our nation has a great reputation for the promotion of young talents in sport, such as Nicola Adams and Antony Joshua. However, I believe that boxing is not suitable for children to take part in. I agree that children will learn an aspect of discipline while boxing, but they will also be in an element of danger.

I believe that there should be a certain age allocated in order to take part in boxing for many reasons. Firstly, it is putting the nations children in danger. Boxing involves fierce and agressive actions. The aggression involved in boxing could have a negative affect on the children’s behaviour inside and outside of school. This can also affect the children’s social life aswell as their education. This could lead to violence at home and in the streets.

Video games have age ratings to protect our youth from copying the actions that they see. So if a fighting game is rated over 18, then why isn’t boxing? They both express similar examples of violence.

Also, lots of children have role models from all different sports. Role models are people who influence the youth to copy their actions. Boxers aims are to hurt the other opponent to win. So if children choose them as role models, then what would you expect. I can tell you now, it’s not going to be pretty. They are going to be violent towards others including their own family. No parent wants to see their child behave in this manner.

Athletes that take part in boxing are more likely to workout in a gym. This would imply that weight training is involved as they would aim to have bigger muscles. Therefore, if children take part in this type of weight training, then they will suffer growth problems. This is because children are not fully developed to increase muscle mass. If the children choose to take part in this specific activity, then the children will experience effects on the body in the future.

There have been many permanent injuries and fatal deaths that have linked to boxing. For example, Bradley Stone was a young talent who had a big future in his sport. However, one fight ended his life tragically. The 23-year-old died the next day after he was defeated in his British Super-Bantamweight title fight against Richie Wenton in 1994. He had a blood clot that went unspotted after the fight. The dangers in the sport are dangerous to all ages.

The old game of pugilism is alot more competitve now as both boxers aim to knock out there enemy. The early years of the sport was more friendlier between the fighters. It was also a sport that was created to entertain. This element in the sport has disapeared over all these years. I believe that the spirt is no longer safe to play or promote to children.

Would our parents find it fun watching their child being hit inside a ring? I don’t think so. What if the child gets in trouble with the police. Would parents be impressed with that as well? I don’t think so.
